- ➤ Today, more than 1,000 locals joined the Polar Bear Plunge at Sanders Beach, Lake Coeur d'Alene for a festive New Year celebration with music, costumes and local traditions (including beaded necklaces and karaoke tunes) before a noon dive. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Hundreds joined the 49th annual Tesh 5K Fun Run on Thursday in a 27-degree, cloudy morning along the North Idaho Centennial Trail near Atlas Waterfront Park. The fundraiser benefitted Tesh by offering runners, walkers (and their dogs) a fresh start to the new year. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Kim Edmondson of the Kootenai-Shoshone Farm Bureau donated $15,000 to 10 local agencies in November to fight food insecurity in the community, including support for a weekend backpack program that benefits over 250 Post Falls children. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Eagle Scout candidate Ryan Drappo (17) with help from Troop 911 built a wooden structure with a metal roof to protect a sign tracing Hayden’s agricultural history at Stoddard Park. The project, planned since 2022 and completed in about a month, showcases the town’s commitment to preserving its heritage. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Birds of Prey Northwest’s center in St. Maries was damaged in a recent windstorm, destroying several aviaries and leaving injured raptors needing care. Local volunteers and a fundraiser at The Coeur d'Alene Resort Sunday afternoon + a GoFundMe drive will support rebuilding efforts. Coeur d'Alene Press
