CULTURE NEWS

  • Art Spirit Gallery (celebrating 30 years) will host its final sale and community gathering during ArtWalk from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at 415 E. Sherman Ave., featuring interactive installations that honor its legacy.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Tony Mills has opened a gallery on Sherman Avenue showcasing large images of wolves, grizzlies and elk from his wilderness adventures — experiences that fuel both his art and his work as a real estate agent. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Water experts report that critical basins in north Idaho and Washington are facing a wet snow drought after rain replaced snow this winter—low snowpack may force earlier irrigation storage and reduced hydropower capacity. More precipitation is expected soon but its impact remains uncertain.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city warns residents and local businesses that phishing emails asking for fee payments are scams. Officials say fees are collected in person or via approved platforms + official emails end in cdaid.org.  Coeur d'Alene Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • A NiceRx report shows that Idaho earned the top health rating at 7.14 out of 10 based on obesity, exercise facility access, inactivity and alcohol use. Expert Erica Youngman at PEAK Fitness (Post Falls) says accessible recreation helps locals meet their fitness goals.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Axis Spine Center opened a new facility in Post Falls on Feb. 3, where the Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting; the center provides advanced diagnostics, interventional procedures and coordinated rehabilitation services as part of Northwest Specialty Hospital’s integrated care approach + improved patient access.  Coeur d'Alene Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Southern Marinas Hayden Lake, LLC filed an application with Idaho Department of Lands in October to overhaul the marina docks this fall by adding 32 new slips and upgrading facilities for boats 24-26 ft long. Residents can comment on the proposal until Feb. 23 (a public hearing has yet to be scheduled).  Coeur d'Alene Press
