  • Coeur d'Alene resident Sharon Ostrom, 91, has subscribed to The Press for 74 years and said she misses the Monday print edition — she relies on the newspaper every morning to stay informed about local news — and she does not like stories from other towns.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Canfield Middle School students raised $1,000 at a neon-themed dance and raffle to donate to Canopy Village—which needs $1.2 million yearly—to help fund emergency child and family services and upcoming mentor events. CMS teachers matched the student funds as part of the mentor program that chose Canopy Village unanimously.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CRIME NEWS

  • On Wednesday night—Border Patrol officers in Athol detained five Mexican nationals after a check on a suspicious vehicle near Super 1 Foods led the suspects into a store—and they were booked into Kootenai County Jail for federal immigration violations.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live was staged on Thursday at the First Interstate Center for the Arts as a 2.5D musical that brought the Sailor Moon story to life. Riko Tanaka led the cast as Sailor Moon and her fellow actors carefully performed choreographed fight scenes that blended live music with the anime’s visuals.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The Coeur d'Alene Resort will debut the Soundscape Music Festival on March 28-29 with a Live on the Water Concert Cruise kicking off the event on March 28 and an adults-only Bourbon and Blues gathering that same evening. The festival will continue on March 29 at the Hagadone Event Center with a diverse lineup of musical acts — tickets start at $43.50.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Public docks and restroom access at Bayview Fifth, Lakeside, the Spirit Lake Nautical Loop, and Twin Lakes Par 3 may reach a near resolution before boating season after the county terminated its launch lease on Jan. 6. At Monday’s Lakes Highway District meeting—attended by over 20 community members—board members and officials discussed a one-year maintenance partnership to restore these public amenities.  Coeur d'Alene Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mid-March snowstorms brought over a foot of new snow to Silver Mountain and more than three feet to Lookout Pass — boosting ski conditions for a strong season finish. Silver Mountain will hold its final ski day on April 20 with the Leadman Triathlon, while Lookout Pass plans events through closing day — offering local skiers extra fun before winter ends.  Coeur d'Alene Press
