COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, the Kellogg Senior Center Spring Craft Show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 211 McKinley Ave. in Kellogg. On April 12, Lake City High School will host a craft fair with about 100 booths, food trucks, and raffles to benefit the Class of 2025's Safe and Sober Grad Party, and on April 26, Lakeland High School in Rathdrum will hold a fair featuring local crafts and vendor opportunities.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Coeur d'Alene’s Inland Northwest Opera will restart with an event at Harding Center at 3 p.m. Sunday where they will announce a new mainstage opera production for fall 2026 — the program will also introduce director Stephen Gordon and allow fans to meet the new board from North Idaho.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Hayden Cinema has released its movie schedule from April 4th to 10th — featuring films like Minecraft, Chosen Season 5, A Working Man, Snow White, Death of a Unicorn, Last Breath, The Chosen S5: Last Supper, King of Kings, Drop and The Amateur — with ticket prices set at $6.50 for matinees, $8.50 for nights and $5 on Tuesday.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Fish and Game will soon begin angler surveys—also called creel surveys—on Lake Coeur d’Alene and its chain lakes. The surveys will be done with the Coeur d'Alene Tribe as technicians interview anglers at boat ramps.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Brad Little signed a law — blocking unauthorized immigrants from most public assistance — on Wednesday. The law takes effect July 1 and requires state agencies to verify immigration status for non-emergency services.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The city of Coeur d’Alene announced Friday it received a $600,000 federal grant in partnership with the Kootenai County Office of Emergency Management + Idaho Department of Lands to reduce fire risks on Tubbs Hill. The project will begin planning fuel reduction work on the 165-acre hill, with clearance set to be completed by late 2026 and a public meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 22 at the Coeur d’Alene Library Community Room.  Coeur d'Alene Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Hayden Longshots youth team won the trap shooting contest at the Winter League shoot off on March 29 at the Coeur d'Alene Skeet and Trap Club—this is the first junior team to compete and its members range from fifth grade to college; they will attend an awards banquet on April 12.  Coeur d'Alene Press
