- ➤ Hundreds of people gathered along U.S. 95 near Appleway Avenue for a 'Hands Off' protest on Saturday—veteran Duane Nansel said he joined because he was worried about cuts to federal programs—and police later issued tickets to drivers blocking demonstrators. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Ted Currie met Pastor Tim Remington on Saturday as he signed copies of his book Gun Shot Witness at Sower Bible Bookstore; Remington, who survived a six-bullet shooting nine years ago – still battling pain and heart problems – said his strong faith has helped him forgive his shooter and continue leading his church. - ➤ This April, local organizers will offer stewardship events to care for our Earth—Coeur d’Green compost weekend will run April 12-13 at 3500 N. Julia St. and the Coeur d’Alene Public Library will hold its Earth Day celebration on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A Spokane River Forum Conference on water resources will meet April 22-23 for discussions on protecting our river. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Coeur d'Alene voters will decide on a $16.4 million, 10-year bond on May 20 that will fund new fire trucks and upgrades for three fire stations — Station 2, built in 1992, suffers from leaks, mold and overcrowding. Two open houses are scheduled at 6 p.m. on April 9 and April 23 at Station 2 for residents to learn the plans. Coeur d'Alene Press
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The Coeur d'Alene Regional Realtors report showed that the median price for a single-family home in Kootenai County through March was $546,035—a rise of 8% from last year—with 488 homes sold, 885 listings, and homes spending 106 days on the market. In Shoshone County, the median home price was $288,000—a 7.1% increase—with 30 homes sold, 102 active listings, and homes on the market for 120 days. Coeur d'Alene Press
