GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, Gov. Brad Little signed a law letting pharmacies sell ivermectin over the counter to give people in rural Idaho easier access to the drug. • Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed House Bill 109 that will require the Department of Health and Welfare to request a federal waiver to exclude candy and soda from SNAP benefits, effective July 1. Lawmakers in Coeur d'Alene and critics say the broad definitions may also limit items like granola or power bars—raising concerns for local retailers and SNAP users.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The City Council is reviewing new height limits downtown to preserve the town's character—experts say more studies, public input and meetings are needed before any changes are made. The working group examined high rises built since 2000 including the 15 story McEuen Terrace, the 20 story Parkside Tower and the 15 story One Lakeside to shape future guidelines.  Coeur d'Alene Press
