ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 31-year-old man and a juvenile were injured in a motorcycle accident Sunday in Post Falls when a 2024 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited lost control around 5:50 p.m. at the N Spokane Street and N Encanto Drive intersection and struck two parked vehicles—neither rider wore a helmet and responders closed the road for over three hours.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CRIME NEWS

  • A Coeur d'Alene man, Tyson Patrick Healey, 44, was sentenced on April 17 to serve a unified seven-year prison term with one year before parole for delivery and possession of methamphetamine — police used a confidential informant and a search that uncovered additional drugs, a scale and over $2,000 in cash.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Trustee Allison Anderton was arrested early Sunday morning in Post Falls on DUI and drug paraphernalia charges near Beck Road and Expo Parkway, and the school district said her board membership decisions remain solely her responsibility.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • A Post Falls man was arrested after a standoff with police Sunday night when he refused to exit his armed vehicle, triggering a traffic stop and a search of his home—he is now booked for resisting and obstructing.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Coeur d'Alene School Board trustee Allison 'Allie' Anderton was arrested early Sunday morning near Beck Road and Expo Parkway in Post Falls for DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia—she was booked into Kootenai County jail with bonds set at $500 for DUI and $300 for the paraphernalia charge, and her arraignment is expected in May.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • At Barrister, the Balourdet String Quartet and soloist Zuill Bailey performed vibrant concerts that launched the spring season of Northwest BachFest, featuring works from Couperin, Haydn and Beethoven. The young ensemble shared lead roles and played new works by recent composers—adding creative twists on old and modern classics—while expressing rich emotion throughout the performance.  The Spokesman-Review

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Coeur d'Alene have slowly dropped as the local average now is $3.35 per gallon and falling crude oil prices bring lower costs—AAA said prices could decline further if crude stays below $70 per barrel this week.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pharmacy owner Erik Nelson warned that proposed tax changes in Washington will increase costs for small pharmacies—putting their ability to serve patients at risk—while his Idaho locations have benefited from supportive legislative actions. He urged lawmakers to protect these essential community services that care for families, seniors, and patients with complex health needs.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Teresa Borrenpohl filed a tort claim with the Kootenai County Clerk today after a private security team forcibly removed her from a town hall meeting on Feb. 22 when she voiced her dissent. Her claim states that county officials and those who acted with them — including Sheriff Norris — violated her constitutional rights as she begins her civil legal process for accountability.  Coeur d'Alene Press
