CRIME NEWS

  • At a town hall meeting on Feb 22 at Coeur d’Alene High School, Sheriff Bob Norris grabbed Teresa Borrenpohl and threatened to pepper-spray her while urging security to remove her+she later filed a $5 million legal claim over her injuries, though authorities say he is unlikely to face any criminal or administrative investigation.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The Coeur d'Alene City Council upheld the revocation of a massage shop license at 1034 N. Third St.—a decision made after police investigated massage parlors allegedly linked to illegal sexual activity, while owner Anqin Du disputed any wrongdoing.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Orchard Prairie School District bond passed Tuesday night as 64.6% of voters backed a $6.2 million plan to build a new school for 79 students — replacing the old 1970s building that did not meet state safety codes.  The Spokesman-Review

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Venture Academy junior Alethea Konen helped bag tree seedlings Tuesday morning as part of a tradition spanning 40 years that now gives over 2,000 seedlings to every fourth grader in Kootenai County. Volunteers spent hours dipping, bagging, tagging and bundling seedlings for shipment to schools — the program runs entirely on community help and donations.  Coeur d'Alene Press
