The annual Hayden Kite Festival will be held on May 10 at Broadmoore Park, 2691 West Broadmoore Drive, with registration and kite flying from noon to 1:30 p.m.—judging will run from 1:30 to 2 p.m. and an awards ceremony will follow at 2:15 p.m. Sponsored by ICCU, the free event is open to all ages and the city will provide free kites.

More than 100 people gathered at Tubbs Hill on Sunday to unveil a tribute bench honoring civic leaders Scott and Mary Lou Reed — whose efforts preserved local natural beauty.

Local artists Mary Dee and Allen Dodge designed the bench with stained glass-like images of wildlife and trees, and it bears the inscription 'With love from Coeur d’Alene' — marking a 70-year legacy of community service.

A two-story building at Argonne Road and East Dalton Avenue was built in 1925 by George Brown as a pharmacy later run by Elbert Tiffin that became known as Millwood Pharmacy when the town incorporated in 1928.

The building later hosted a doctor’s office, dentist, and antique stores until Bobbie Beese bought it in 1992+ she and her siblings opened the Corner Door Cafe and helped get a section of Millwood listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
