BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Long Ear, Coeur d'Alene’s record store has run for 53 years and will close on July 3 because its building (1620 N. Government Way) sold last summer, ending its lease. A gun safety training firm, United Defense Tactical, will take over the space next month.  The Spokesman-Review

CULTURE NEWS

  • Internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Bogdan Ota will perform Chronos – The Master of Time at 6:30 p.m. May 7 at the Kroc Center in Coeur d'Alene. The show blends piano, orchestral sounds and cinematic visuals into an immersive journey on time and memory ahead of Mother's Day.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Silverwood Theme Park opens its 38th season Saturday at 11 a.m. with special prices of $38 for general tickets and $19.88 for seniors and kids ages 3-7, and Main Street opens at 10:30 a.m. ahead of Boulder Beach opening June 6 to launch daily operations.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Post Falls High School student chefs from Team Idaho placed sixth at the National ProStart Invitational last weekend in Baltimore+ they missed first place by less than three points and plan to return next year with a new menu.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Avista is mobilizing line crews and support staff after past windstorms left tens of thousands without power, preparing ahead of worsening weather in its service area. The utility is coordinating a 24/7 schedule with contract crews and local teams — a plan focused on restoring power safely.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • More than 100 first responders from Shoshone County and surrounding areas were honored at the Wallace Elks Lodge today for their bravery during a Dec. 26 incident in Wallace — prosecutor Ben Allen led the ceremony recognizing both valor and meritorious conduct among police, dispatch, and EMS teams.  Coeur d'Alene Press
