COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Monday, May 5th, a memorial was held at McEuen Park to mark the 10th anniversary of Sgt. Greg Moore's death, where about 75 police officers and firefighters, city officials, and 50 residents gathered while his widow and daughter sat at the front. The event honored his service and sacrifice—Moore was the first officer killed in the line of duty, and his memory continues to unite the community.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game are repairing boat ramps and parking areas at five access sites in the Panhandle that will be closed briefly this month. Spirit Lake is closed May 5—7 and Hayden Lake Sportsman Park is closed May 6—7 while Coclalla Lake and Twin Lakes will close later and the Clark Fork Driftyard remains open for high clearance vehicles.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The city of Coeur d’Alene is accepting applications for the 2025 Community Opportunity Grant, which supports projects for low- and moderate-income people— a workshop will be held at 2 p.m. May 13 at City Hall, Conference Room 6, and proposals are due by May 30.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • At a swearing-in ceremony at the Evan Abraham Longhouse in DeSmet on May 5, the Tribal Council unanimously re-elected Chief Allan as chairman and also elected Donald Sczenski as vice chairman while incumbents Gene Hemene James and Margaret SiJohn continued their service. Tribal members stressed that steady leadership is key to the Tribe’s success—continuity that has guided Chief Allan since he was first elected in 2005.  Coeur d'Alene Press
