  • American Legion Post 14 of Coeur d’Alene will host an honors ceremony at 11 a.m. on May 13 at Mica Peak Cemetery (Saxby, Wash.) to unveil bronze markers honoring three veterans who served in the Civil War, World War I, and the Persian Gulf.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fuel prices in Idaho rose on Monday when AAA reported an average of $4.46 per gallon — up $1.17 from a year ago — while national supply fears have driven crude oil to about $106 per barrel, officials said.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The local Kootenai School District, on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene, approved a four-day school week for the next school year to give teachers extra planning time and reduce student learning loss — teachers will work two Fridays a month for planning.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Monday evening, retired Army Sgt. Maj. Daniel Dailey addressed 22 new recruits at Post Falls American Legion 143, sharing how an Army career offers education, training, and a supportive family; two recruits will head to basic training at Fort Benning while two proceed to Fort Sill.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • State tax officials reported that $7 million remains in the school choice tax credit program after awarding $33.4 million in tax credits and $8.84 million in advance payments from a $50 million fund. The commission said it will reopen applications until Aug. 15 or until the program reaches its spending cap.  Coeur d'Alene Press
