Mall owners Dave Knoll and his son Brian Knoll filled the 50,000-square-foot space left by Macy’s with Black Sheep Sporting Goods, which had a soft opening last week and will open officially soon.

Local entrepreneur Laura Owens also set up a jewelry counter in the space — she hopes her new business home will boost her sales — as the mall continues to update its offerings.

Don Pischner, an Idaho State Historical Society trustee, will present a lecture on the Halsey brothers—who lost their lives serving in World War II—at 5:30 p.m. May 14 at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library; his talk will explain how their sacrifice affected their family and community.
