- ➤ Fish and Game released 34 cow elk from a captured non-migratory herd into Unit 7 in the Panhandle Elk Zone today. Staff will monitor the herd with GPS collars to see if they survive and join existing groups as part of an experimental management plan amid crop damage concerns. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Ongoing drought conditions in the region raise lead exposure risks from dusty, contaminated soil near the Bunker Hill Superfund Site (with children particularly at risk) as recreational areas along the Coeur d’Alene River may disturb harmful dust; local health officials urge proper hygiene and cleaning practices to lessen the risk.
