Frontier Airlines began ultra-low fare flights from Spokane International yesterday to Denver — these are the first flights from Spokane since September 2021.
The promotion offers fares as low as $59 for three weekly nonstop trips, but tickets must be purchased by 8:59 p.m. on Monday with a 21-day advanced purchase required and no travel on July 3 or July 6.
Local companies in Hayden and Sandpoint are refurbishing a Black Hawk helicopter for civilian use, with North Idaho Aircraft Refinishing handling the paint job—Jared Thompson said the project is drawing attention from the military community.
The work will prepare the helicopter and two others for use in a firefighting fleet in Kern County.

Luke Sommer, Karina Angiletta, and Cynthia Clark won seats on the Kootenai Hospital District board — Sommer will serve four years while Angiletta and Clark will serve six years after Angiletta led with 34.29% and Clark edged David Bobbitt by 353 votes, even though the board now has no assets or operations. Elsewhere, Carol Rassier and Sarah Loader won seats on the Greenferry Water and Sewer District Board, which operates wells and serves about 1,000 people across the Spokane River from Post Falls.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will end its Family and Personal Care Services program in 60 days after CMS approved the change on May 15—this program has allowed parents and spouses to serve as paid caregivers for nearly 1,200 children and will help transition families to direct care agencies. Investigations into fraud and abuse continue as officials work to ensure families have access to needed services.
Coeur d'Alene voters approved a $16.4M, 10-year bond on Tuesday night to fund upgrades for the fire department—achieving 74.87% support when a 66 2/3% supermajority was required.
Fire Chief Tom Greif said the funds will rebuild Station No. 2, upgrade Station No. 1, expand Station No. 3, and replace eight aging fire trucks.
Memorial Day ceremonies will be held on May 26 across Kootenai and Shoshone counties—events include a wreath-laying at Honeysuckle Beach in Hayden with a boat launch closure from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and remembrance services at Evergreen and Pinegrove Cemeteries in Post Falls and Rathdrum.
