  • More than 100 residents gathered Sunday in Phippeny Park to celebrate the Garden District’s listing in the National Register of Historic Places— a milestone following community-led preservation efforts that began in 2018. Local officials said the recognition helps encourage property owners to preserve the neighborhood's historic character.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Shakespeare Coeur d'Alene is staging 'Much Ado About Nothing' set in the post–World War II era to show how life can return to normal after hardship. Mary Bowers said the show will run at the Salvation Army Kroc Center on June 6, 7 and 8 and July 2, 5 and 6 — linking historical themes with lively humor and romance — as the production reflects a time of renewed hope.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Thursday, the Coeur d’Alene Water Festival returned to McEuen Park as about 250 local fifth graders explored stations on watershed science, animal tracks, tribal canoes and native fisheries+witnessed a birds of prey demonstration with a red-tailed hawk, peregrine falcon and barn owl. Volunteers from Trout Unlimited, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and other local groups led the sessions to spark nature interest among the young audience.  Coeur d'Alene Press
