The Coeur d'Alene Regional Chamber will host its 28th annual 'Wings Over Water' osprey cruise on Saturday, July 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. aboard the Mish-an-Nock at The Resort Boardwalk Marina, where participants will see migratory ospreys + other wildlife and hear from local experts on the region’s natural and cultural history.
On Tuesday, the Coeur d'Alene City Council passed a proclamation that honored Juneteenth and highlighted local Black history—Jeanette Laster noted milestones such as Jennie Eva Hughes graduating from the University of Idaho in 1899 and Dr. Thomas ‘Les’ Purce serving as Idaho’s first Black mayor. A Freedom Walk will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday starting at Fifth and Wallace and a panel discussion will be held at 11:30 a.m. to promote community inclusion.
Local Flavors—a sandwich shop and whiskey bar—opened May 3 on South Perry, where owner Steve Egger said the restaurant sold many Mint Juleps and sandwiches and plans to add burgers, smoked brisket and tasting events to grow its menu.
The new eatery, built from a former storage space, reflects the Egger family's long legacy in local food and drink.
Marcus Felmley runs LNW Landscaping and received statewide recognition as Best Landscaper for the Panhandle Region—marking a second win for his family business after moving to Coeur d'Alene in 2021.
He began selling eggs as a child and credits his faith and family for teaching him hard work.
North Idaho College announced its spring dean's list—recognizing many Kootenai County students for academic excellence.

North Idaho College is inviting applications for a new Culinary Arts Sous Chef Apprenticeship that offers classroom training and a paid job at local restaurants — the six-semester program serves young adults, veterans, and career changers.
Students who complete the program earn an associate degree and can take a national exam to become certified sous chefs.
