- ➤ Women's Gift Alliance awarded $100K in grants to five local nonprofits—each receiving $30K or $5K—in a Wednesday ceremony at the Hospice of North Idaho Community Room. Habitat for Humanity will use its funds for home repairs while Lake City Center and the other groups will upgrade facilities and support local programs. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Crews will remove two cottonwood trees from Seventh Street on Friday — residents said broken branches had posed a threat to children. The city worked with the property owner to arrange the removal — addressing safety concerns in the neighborhood. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Fridays with Fido — held during ArtWalk from 5 to 8 p.m. at Sherman Avenue shops — saw six dogs adopted last year and one in May; the program will offer adoptable shelter dogs through October. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Coeur d'Alene Police Department received a $2,500 donation from Kootenai Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up yesterday - the funds support its bike safety program for elementary students.
