  • Locally raised painted lady butterflies will be released Tuesday at Share Hope Memorial Garden at Eighth and Gilbert from 5:30 to 7 p.m.—a memorial event honoring lives well-lived and the love that brings healing.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber announced that the town’s largest annual Fourth of July celebration, themed Home of the Brave, will begin on July 3 with a Kiddie Parade and continue with an American Heroes Parade and fireworks show on July 4. Sponsored by Idaho Central Credit Union, the event will honor local heroes including Grand Marshal Charlie Nipp, military hero Stephen Durfee, Citizen of the Year Dr. Nick Swayne, and Volunteer of the Year Jody Azevedo.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho senators Jim Risch and Mike Crapo said Friday they opposed a provision to sell up to 3 million acres of federal land in a tax cut and budget bill moving through Congress—this is the first time they have challenged the plan, which may affect the final package.  The Spokesman-Review

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the 1981-82 Idaho Vandals, who earned a 27-3 record and reached the NCAA Sweet 16 with a top-10 ranking, will be inducted into the Hooptown USA Hall of Fame, honoring their role in turning a struggling program into a national sensation (nicknamed the Kings of the Palouse).  The Spokesman-Review
