  • A free food distribution event is scheduled on July 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Venture Academy, 1619 N. Ninth St., where the Second Harvest Inland Northwest Mobile Market will serve up to 250 families—no appointment or paperwork is required.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Today, the Coeur d’Alene Aviation Air Show and Expo is held at Coeur d'Alene Airport-Pappy Boyington Field—where Lunar Sawyer’s husband flies his RV-8A 'Wild Blue' that dreams of being a fighter jet—and two F-18 Growlers from NAS Whidbey Island are on display as the show runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CRIME NEWS

  • A judge sentenced 33-year-old Raven A. Crum—an Athol resident—to four months in jail, a one-year driver’s license suspension, and two years of probation after a Aug. 3 road rage crash near Rathdrum left a child in a coma last year, according to the Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office.  The Spokesman-Review

CULTURE NEWS

  • Amy Hebert, a local dog lover and educator, created the Canine Bridge exhibit that uses 24 photos from Coeur d'Alene dog enthusiasts to show how canine qualities can connect people — the exhibit will be on display July 11 during downtown ArtWalk.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Coeur d'Alene High School's annual All Class 50+ Reunion, hosted by the Class of 1970, will be held Saturday, Sept. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds (Building 1) after being moved from July based on alumni feedback, with tickets at $45 for a barbecue dinner or $15 without dinner and a free-entry car show for vintage car owners.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Lake City High School Student Council was named a 2025 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils for its record of leadership, service and school improvement—earning recognition for hosting events like homecoming and spirit competitions—and for supporting local initiatives.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is upgrading marina services at Heyburn State Park with a 23 million project that adds a new boardwalk 1,000 feet into the water and more boat slips. Construction began on May 9 and will continue into 2026 while the Chatcolet parking area and boat launch remain closed—Rocky Point is the only access for boat launches.  Coeur d'Alene Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local public health officials warn residents and pet owners to steer clear of water that appears discolored or has foam since harmful algal blooms can cause skin irritation and stomach upset—any suspicious water should be reported for testing. Officials will test water samples if blooms are suspected.  Coeur d'Alene Press
