- ➤ U.S. Marshals arrested Christian B. Fischer in New Orleans Thursday night after he evaded arrest in Athol last year on an out-of-state warrant for charges of meeting a minor and using a computer to lure a child for sexual purposes—Fischer had been convicted in absentia. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ The U.S. Forest Service announced it will award $80 million in Wood Innovation Grants to spur forest management and energy innovation in North Idaho. The funding supports projects—including two at the University of Idaho that received $250,000 each for heavy timber construction and microturbine power generation—to boost local jobs and sustainable practices. - ➤ The City Council was evenly split on Tuesday—Mayor Woody McEvers broke the tie vote to approve a new three-year lease for the nonprofit at 414 W. Fort Grounds Drive, its home for 22 years.
