ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ At 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, first responders arrived at a fully engulfed pole building on the 3000 block of N. 15th Street in Coeur d'Alene and found one adult female dead in a recreational vehicle while four others received treatment for burn injuries—investigation continues. Coeur d'Alene Press
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Coeur d'Alene Fire Chief Tom Greif told The Press he found clarity after reviewing Sheriff Bob Norris’s update on the June 29 Canfield Mountain attack that took two firefighters’ lives and injured a third — he said listening to radio traffic helped him sort out facts from false social media reports and thank the community for its support. - ➤ The University of Idaho announced its spring 2025 graduates, including local Kootenai County students from Coeur d'Alene—such as Abigail Boudro and Alexander Von Bruck. The list was released earlier this year to recognize students who completed their studies. Coeur d'Alene Press
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today, the Idaho Panhandle National Forests closed Bunco Road east of Athol and Lake Pend Oreille from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays to keep drivers safe during heavy logging as up to 120 trucks will use the narrow road—60 entering and 60 leaving loaded. The road will reopen by Oct. 10 for fall big game hunting and Lakeview residents are exempt. Coeur d'Alene Press

- ➤ Coeur d’Alene’s Kootenai Health pulmonologist Dr. Todd Hoopman helped answer a key question about safely checking lung nodules by co-leading the VERITAS trial, a national study that compared CT-guided needle biopsy with navigational bronchoscopy. The study found that navigational bronchoscopy works as well as CT-guided biopsy with fewer complications—only 3% of patients experienced complications compared to nearly 30% with CT-guided methods.
