Idaho officials reported that the wolf population fell to 1,129 in 2025 as part of expanded hunting and trapping efforts.

They said the program led to fewer livestock losses and aims to lower the number to roughly 500.

Local gardeners can shape annuals for the fall season by watering deeply (installing drip timers in hanging baskets costing between $50 and $100) and mulching in-ground plants while waiting until mid-August to resume fertilizing.
