The Cause Church at 1010 E.
Sherman Ave. will give away more than 260 backpacks filled with school supplies and essentials from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday during a community party. The church will serve free hot dogs, chips, water, cotton candy, face painting, haircuts, games, and jump castles — families must register to receive a backpack.
Late Sunday morning, Dallan Pope and his relatives evacuated a burning single-engine plane after engine failure forced the pilot to land on a road near Coeur d'Alene — all escaped with minor injuries while the National Transportation Safety Board investigates the issue.
Retired fire chief Kenny Gabriel, appointed to City Council in October, is running for a two-year term in November to remain in office until 2027.
He said his plan is to boost public safety & preserve Coeur d'Alene’s small-town charm, & guide smart growth with affordable housing in mind.
