A woman was hospitalized and her dog rescued after a house fire broke out in Kellogg on Friday afternoon — emergency crews heard screams, found her struggling in the kitchen, and rushed her outside where she sustained burns and other injuries before airlifting her to a hospital.
Seventeen-year-old Shayla Tyler and 13 other students and recent graduates returned on July 26 from a 33-day tour that took them to 19 cities in 10 countries.
The trip—organized by PNW Kids Travel with adult chaperones—gave them a chance to see famous art and history up close, including visits to the Louvre and Vatican City.
Coeur d'Alene City Council is holding a public hearing at 6 p.m. tonight at the Public Library Meeting Room to review its proposed $152.6 million 2025-26 budget — which includes a 3% property tax increase generating $835,702 and 1% from forgone taxes adding $291,148.
The budget brings total property tax revenue to $31.6 million with a $2,150,000 fire bond levy and increased spending on police, fire, streets, and parks, and a budget workshop is scheduled for Aug. 11 at noon.
The Big Sky Conference will start its final season with regular travel patterns on Jan.
3 when Idaho and Eastern Washington open league play; the EWU women will host Idaho in Cheney while the men play in Moscow—launching an 18-game schedule that ends with a tournament in Boise from March 7 to 11.
