- ➤ Due to continued hot and dry weather lowering water levels on Coeur d'Alene Lake, Avista will reduce water discharge at the Post Falls dam to a minimum of 500 cubic feet per second this week — a move made under the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission license to balance lake levels and maintain Spokane River flows after only .02 inches of rain in July. - ➤ Jinny and Lloyd Wayne Dorsey have paused their plans to build an accessible home on a Kootenai County island after rules may force them to annex into Post Falls for a new sewer hookup. About 30 local citizens backed the couple at a recent City Council meeting—city officials said further talks will help resolve the issue. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Worley Fire Protection District broke ground Monday on a new 4,300-square-foot fire station at Rolling Hills — Larson roads, west of Hope Ranch Cattle Company, to boost services in a 121-square-mile area with 3,500 residents. Sixty-five percent of the $600,000 cost had been raised, and the exterior is expected to be done by mid-October with the interior finished by Jan. 1 — officials said. Coeur d'Alene Press
