  • Idaho native and Nashville recording artist Jeremy McComb — from Post Falls — organized a benefit concert at Stateline Speedway on July 27 that raised $213,138 for families of firefighters injured at Canfield Mountain on June 29. Nearly 3,000 locals attended and community business leaders helped support the cause.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Hecla Mining Co reported a $57.7 million profit in its second quarter — the company said net income was 9 cents per share and adjusted earnings were 8 cents per share — and recorded $304 million in revenue.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge in Montana ordered wildlife officials to reconsider Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves in the West after ruling that the agency’s 2024 decision did not properly consider the species' historic range and population estimates in Idaho and Montana - the ruling directs the Fish and Wildlife Service to review its decision within 60 days amid ongoing debates over state wolf management practices.  The Spokesman-Review

  • Coeur d'Alene wastewater tested positive for measles on July 29—health officials are urging medical providers to check patients with measles symptoms while noting that no local cases have been reported.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • An 11-year-old boy will receive a kidney from a local pastor in January for treatment of chronic kidney disease. His family will travel to Seattle for the transplant and host a fundraising dinner at Eagles Lodge Saturday — donations will help cover travel expenses.  Coeur d'Alene Press
