A home on Harbor Island was damaged in a fire Tuesday night on Harbor Drive—fire crews from Kootenai County and Coeur d’Alene responded while a nearby garage caught fire and no one was hurt, with officials saying the blaze is believed to be accidental.
The traveling dinosaur exhibit featuring Ricky—Idaho’s official state dinosaur designated in 2023—was shown Tuesday at the Idaho Museum of Natural History with a 3D printed replica and later visited Rathdrum and Post Falls libraries in Kootenai County.
Educator Pam Pascali said the mobile display is part of a planned series that will travel to every county in the state.
North Idaho College will host its first NIC Color Fun Run on Saturday, Aug.23 on its Coeur d'Alene campus where participants will run a 5K and be showered with colorful, washable cornstarch powder.
Registrations will be accepted on the day with free entry for NIC students and individuals 18 and under and a $20 fee for others that includes a T-shirt & bandanna & sunglasses along with an afterparty featuring a live DJ, food trucks and a chance to win NIC scholarships.
Health officials confirmed a second North Idaho measles case in an unvaccinated child from Bonner County who received treatment at Sacred Heart and may have exposed 109 people during visits on Aug.
12, Aug. 13, and Aug. 15 in Spokane. Officials warn that more cases may emerge as measles spreads rapidly and urge parents to vaccinate children promptly — a reminder that the virus can spread before symptoms appear.
