- ➤ Supporters of Orchard Ridge Senior Living have planned a musical fundraiser called 'Route 66'—featuring four local talents performing 34 rock 'n' road hits at the Kroc Center from Sept. 12-14. - ➤ Nearly 300 vintage Vikings will attend the 50+ class reunion at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, Building 1—scheduled for Saturday, September 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. Members from the 1940s through 1975 can register at the door for $15 while the event excludes the barbecue dinner and will feature 96-year-old Cecil Hathaway from the class of 1947. - ➤ Rocket is a Brittany Spaniel who works with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain to bring comfort to deputies, dispatchers and community members during stressful times. He has been nominated for the First Responder Paws Award and visits hospitals and schools to boost morale within the community. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ State government agencies' budget requests for fiscal year 2027 are available on the Division of Financial Management website—Gov. Little ordered a 3% mid-year budget cut due to an $80 million shortfall that could worsen with a tax cut law costing another $167 million.
