- ➤ Pastor Tim Remington, who was shot six times at his church parking lot on March 6, forgave his shooter at an event at Altar Church Saturday night—he said he forgave him not just for the act but for the harm done to his family. - ➤ A 66-year-old Kingston woman riding as a passenger on a Harley Davidson died Sunday morning when the bike’s back tire blew out and lost control near Smelterville on I-90—her helmet fell off during the crash and the driver was taken to hospital. The Spokesman-Review

ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A study by Washington State University finds that groundwater in Eastern Washington is declining by 2 to 3 feet per year in areas such as the Odessa region due to overuse and climate variability — trends that could affect the Spokane Valley-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer, the main source of drinking water for Coeur d'Alene. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Dalton Gardens City Council approved an approach permit for Erickson Drive, an unpaved road off Hanley Avenue, but a system error showed the city approved a certificate of occupancy for a private home on the road. County officials said chief building official Chris Garland approved the certificate on Aug. 27—after the council's decision, and both parties will work to build the approach if city codes are met.
