- ➤ Idaho Fish and Game announced Tuesday that tests near Hayden Lake and St. Maries had found deer infected with epizootic hemorrhagic disease and bluetongue after about 200 reports of sick or dead animals were received across the Panhandle — hot and dry weather increased biting midge activity. Officials warned that cases may grow until a hard freeze stops the outbreak. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ A federal appeals court in Seattle heard arguments on Wednesday in a legal challenge claiming that Idaho’s recent voter ID laws—House Bills 124 and 340—discriminate against young voters by eliminating student IDs for registration. Advocates from March For Our Lives Idaho and the Idaho Alliance for Retired Americans argue that the laws violate the 26th Amendment while state officials insist they enhance election security. - ➤ The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office tested new SONAR equipment in Lake Coeur d'Alene on Wednesday to boost its ability to locate wreckage and victims from the surface. - ➤ Fisheries managers in Idaho and Washington have announced a ban on harvesting wild fall chinook salmon from the Snake River and its tributaries, effective Friday—Washington’s ban begins at the Lyons Ferry Bubble Fishery on Thursday—and the restriction will remain for at least one week as warm water delays the fish’s migration while hatchery fish remain available. - ➤ The City of Hayden’s Veterans Commission will honor a distinguished military veteran at the Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11.
