🎭 Culture
On Wed., Sept. 23, Candace Conradi hosted a Rathskeller reunion at Bottle Joy, where former staff and locals gathered to remember the historic inn and share stories.
Attendees enjoyed pizza + memories from decades past while Conradi read an excerpt from her new book, Thirteen Twenty Four Sherman.
🎓 Education
Trustees will meet at Ramsey, McEuen, and McIntire Parks from 10 to 11 a.m. today to answer questions on a proposed $30.25M yearly levy replacing the current $25M levy, with a forum at Lake City High School from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday before it appears on the Nov.
3 ballot.
The Spokesman-Review’s annual contest (open to Eastern Washington and North Idaho high school students) invites outdoor writing entries on topics such as hiking and camping.
Submissions must be emailed by Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. and winners will earn cash prizes with publication in the Sunday Outdoors section.
🌲 Environment
A grizzly bear was spotted at a bait site in the Coeur d'Alene Mountains near Skookum Saddle earlier this month after a hunter's game camera captured the animal.
Idaho Fish & Game directed the hunter to remove the bait and collect a DNA sample, noting that grizzlies sometimes can be found as natural foods dwindle.
🏈 Sports
On Friday, the University Titans beat Central Valley 41 to 21 in a 3A Greater Spokane League game.
Junior Toby Thornburg ran 253 yards + scored five touchdowns, while coach Joe Ireland credited a strong offensive line for opening up scoring opportunities.
