  • Green Bluff farms are bouncing back this fall after last winter's cold snap killed stone fruit buds—Walter’s Fruit Ranch now reports strong yields of cherries, peaches, and apples while local families prepare to enjoy traditional fruit picking and kid-friendly activities.  The Spokesman-Review

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Luke Sommer announces his candidacy for Hayden City Council in the November election—he is a long-time Hayden resident, a father of five, and says he will bring more transparency and efficiency to city government while slowing rapid high-density growth.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • A federal government shutdown began Wednesday morning and led to furloughs at agencies that manage public lands in our region — essential workers in law enforcement and firefighting continue working while visitor centers and some facilities see limited services.
