Taylor Swift fans gathered at It’s a Love Story Books and Cafe in Hayden on Thursday night to celebrate the release of her new album The Life of a Showgirl with themed mocktails and bracelet-making activities.

Genealogist Meagan Mize spoke at Hayden Library about early American witch trials and shared how her 10th great-grandfather took part in a Connecticut trial in 1654 — a time when fear and money led to harsh accusations.

Hundreds of elementary students ran at the annual cross-country meet at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds yesterday as about 750 kids took part.
Fourth-grader Cooper Corbeill defended his title as a three-time champion — coach Heather Montee said the race helped kids build confidence.
