  • ➤ A house fire near Carlin Bay on Thursday afternoon killed one dog while its family escaped safely — the home was a total loss, and fire officials with county rescue and the department of lands are investigating the incident.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • ➤ Today, Dance Theatre Northwest is hosting a community fundraiser at Super 1 Foods, 15837 N. Westwood Drive in Rathdrum from 9 to 11 a.m. to support its winter ballet production of 'The Nutcracker' which will feature over 120 dancers and live musicians from the Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • ➤ A local grandfather recalled his Labor Day family gathering in McCall when his 11-year-old granddaughter won a 25-yard race—leaving him feeling proud yet challenged as he raced his younger grandsons and plans to train all of them for longer distances. Come be part of our mission to break the cycle of poverty in Kootenai County by equipping local churches to serve neighbors in need with dignity and hope. The event will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Coeur d’Alene Bible Church, with doors opening at 5:30 PM and the program running from 6:00–8:00 PM.
