- ➤ Starting Oct. 18, Coeur d'Alene will host several Halloween and harvest events with Apple Palooza downtown offering seasonal treats and a Harvest Festival at the Museum of North Idaho featuring hayrides, pumpkin painting and live music—local organizers also plan a Punkin’ Stroll, a Community Trunk or Treat on Oct. 25, and indoor trick or treat festivities on Halloween. - ➤ At the October meeting at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library, the Garden Club awarded more than $30K in grants to 13 local groups including Life Care Center of Post Falls to boost healing garden programs—staff say the funds help residents enjoy a peaceful outdoor space. The Garden Tour held on June 29 raised over double last year’s total, with sponsors and volunteers supporting local gardening efforts. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ On Tuesday, sixth grader Eliana Browne planted a ginkgo tree in Cherry Hill Park and placed a hand-painted rock with a Bible verse at its base to honor firefighters Frank Harwood and John Morrison, who died in a June shooting on Canfield Mountain—she did this as part of her school’s yearly Good Deeds project. - ➤ Chicks n Chaps is hosting the Cowgirls Closing the Gap Raffle drawing on Friday, Oct. 17 to help push past the nearly $60,000 raised at its Oct. 3 event that supports breast cancer patients in our community. - ➤ Thousands gathered at Coeur d'Alene City Park Tuesday night for a Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk — with attendees in red shirts and flags joining in prayer and song to honor his legacy. The 90-minute ceremony drew visitors from Kootenai County and Spokane as speakers recalled his commitment to faith and service — a remembrance that marked his birthday and impact on the community.
