  • A No Kings Day of Peaceful Action demonstration is scheduled for Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the corner of U.S. 95 and Appleway Avenue in Coeur d'Alene—organizers from the Indivisible Project say it is one of over 2,500 similar events planned nationwide.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Shakespeare Coeur d’Alene’s production of Hamlet, directed by Mary T. Bowers, opens Friday at the Salvation Army Kroc Center and runs through Oct. 26—featuring lively sword fights and modern drama that reimagines the classic tragedy.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Sense and Sensibility, based on Jane Austen's novel, opens tonight at 7 p.m. at Lake City High School (6101 N. Ramsey Road) with 16 student performers including seniors Ruby Klein, Kira Taft, and Jonnie Vedder presenting a story of love and loss in 18th century England. Additional shows will run on Oct. 23-24 at 7 p.m. and on Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. with tickets priced from $5 to $8.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • A conservative Christian group in Boise has doubled down on its claim that drag performer Eric Posey exposed himself at a 2022 Pride in the Park festival in Coeur d’Alene even though a judge ruled that the altered video only showed a small, unclear shadow—Posey now faces a defamation trial set for April.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved changes to Avista’s rates that raised electric bills for residential customers. The new rules lower a monthly bill credit from 36.6 cents to 23.3 cents per kilowatt-hour and shift the fixed cost from a 12.9-cent rebate to a 1.8-cent surcharge — actions that increased the average bill by about $3.43 for users of 939 kilowatt-hours and took effect Oct. 1.  Coeur d'Alene Press
