  • Game wardens are investigating an elk shot on Oct. 19 off Nuchols Gulch Road and a mule deer doe illegally killed up Polaris Peak Road near Osburn—anyone with information should call the Citizens Against Poaching hotline. The Lands Council will host Campfire Stories at Wildland Cooperative in Colbert next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and a Spokane ecologist will speak about moths at Shadle Park Library on Nov. 12 at 6 p.m.  The Spokesman-Review

  • Mead boys and girls remained undefeated in GSL duels and are favored to win the District 6 meet at Wandermere Golf Course Saturday — St. George’s girls clinched their seventh consecutive league title and are set to cruise to the regional title. The Coeur d’Alene boys took the top five spots at the District I meet and are favored to capture a third consecutive 6A state title Saturday in Lewiston.  The Spokesman-Review
