  • Beans and Berries Café opened in late June in a repurposed tattoo shop on Mullan Road and now offers coffee, cold-pressed juices and deli sandwiches with fresh, local bread.   • The Coeur d'Alene High School Jazz Band, led by Jim Phillips, will perform its free annual concert tonight at the Fahringer Auditorium on N. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge halted the Knotty Pine logging project in the Kootenai National Forest and ruled the government failed to account for illegal road use impacts on grizzly bears—environmental groups led by the Center for Biological Diversity had brought the case to court.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho U.S. Sens. Risch and Crapo joined a bipartisan group asking DHS and Labor to release additional H-2B visas needed to support local seasonal work — including roles in forestry, construction, and landscaping — with over 30 senators signing the Nov. 13 letter. This request comes as local businesses plan for seasonal workforce needs to keep operations running smoothly.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Northern Lakes Fire District will mark a major leadership change on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Fire Station 1 — Interim Chief Kevin Croffoot and new deputy and battalion chiefs will be sworn in as the district plans to add firefighters to handle rising call volumes and meet growing service needs.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Coeur d'Alene native Johanna Matthews joined the U.S. Army Reserve with one person in mind—her father, a Vietnam veteran whose trauma led her to train as a psychiatric nurse.   • Coeur d'Alene Regional Realtors reported that Kootenai County homes sold through October reached a median price of $547,500 with 2,128 sales while Shoshone County recorded a median price of $295,000 with 150 sales—agents said well-priced homes sold fast and investors actively bought fixer-uppers as mortgage rates remained a factor.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Idaho football coach Thomas Ford Jr. noted that the Big Sky apologized for a controversial call that helped Sacramento State win 23-20, leaving the Vandals with a narrow defeat.
