- ➤ The 49th annual Tesh 5K Fun Run will take place on Thursday, Jan. 1 at Atlas Waterfront Park starting at 9:30 a.m. The race follows the North Idaho Centennial Trail past Riverstone to Harbor Center and supports Tesh, Inc.—a nonprofit that helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. - ➤ Josiah, who has struggled with mental health challenges since he was 18, received a bike and safety gear from the Press Christmas for All program — the donation will help him attend appointments and work toward independence. The gift came through a partnership with Two Wheeler and Ski Dealer in Hayden to assist local neighbors in need. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Brandy Read and her family worked Friday morning at the Coeur d’Alene Resort to finish decorating an elegant tree (Old Hollywood Glam) for the 37th Festival of Trees benefiting the Kootenai Health Foundation; organizers said proceeds will support a hospital hospitality center (guest rooms and amenities) for families during medical care. - ➤ On Friday night, more than 30,000 people watched the Christmas parade on Sherman Avenue as Santa Claus, the North Idaho Sparklers, the Lake City High School band and cheerleaders, and decorated trucks brought life to 'Candy Cane Lane.' The parade, organized by the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association and the Coeur d’Alene Resort (33rd annual parade and 38th lighting ceremony), ended with fireworks over Lake Coeur d’Alene. - ➤ Lake City Roofing began in 1987 as a power-washing business run by Myron and Lisa Farrar and was taken over on Jan. 1 by brothers Michael and Shaun Farrar who grew the firm from a small family team to more than 30 staff. Michael’s son Colton joined as a third generation—fueling plans for a new Rathdrum location due to strong growth. Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Kootenai County Courthouse will mark its 100th anniversary by hosting a series of free lectures on county history and law beginning in January at Courtroom 1 at 501 Government Way. The county also plans an America 250 ceremony on July 3 with Idaho Supreme Court Justice Cynthia Meyer and a time capsule dedication to share the region's heritage. Coeur d'Alene Press
- ➤ Joe DuPont, Clearwater Region fisheries manager since 2008, will retire later this month after 18 years working to improve fishing regulations and public communication—his efforts have shaped how local anglers access prized salmon, steelhead, and trout. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ On November 16, staff from Idaho Fish and Game operated a check station along I-90 near Fourth of July Pass to monitor if hunters were following wildlife transport rules for big game parts. The station found very low compliance and reminded hunters to review legal guidelines before moving any animal parts—an effort to protect Idaho’s big game herds. Coeur d'Alene Press
