  • American Dream Charity Gala will be held this Saturday at 3931 N. Schreiber Way with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the program starting at 6 p.m., featuring dinner and auctions to benefit Newby-ginnings (supporting local veterans and their families). The third annual event aims to raise $10,000.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • After his mother's hospice care and his father's dignified passing, Ron Stice of Hayden nominated Hospice of North Idaho for Heart Church's Thanks-Giving Offering. At a Nov. 25 luncheon, the nonprofit celebrated a $55,000+ gift to support its Schneidmiller House and quality care.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and Local 710 are hosting their annual Santa photos food drive at Fire Station No. 3, 1500 N. 15th St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday — bring a nonperishable food donation to receive a free photo with Santa.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Coeur d'Alene art fans can visit local artist studios during the MAC Holiday Artist Studio Tour Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (a post-tour gathering is set for Barrister Winery) where they can connect with creative work and its story.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Unity Center of Spiritual Growth welcomed James Kress as its new minister today after Dennis Ashley retired. Kress brings over 30 years of ministry experience from Seattle and invites all seekers to join the local spiritual community.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, Coeur d'Alene School District increased safety and traffic law enforcement around campuses as more students used electric bikes, scooters and other high-powered vehicles following a rise in accidents. Officials said stricter rules, including helmet use and speed limits, aim to keep students safe (enforcement also follows recent city changes).  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho sheriffs warned elected officials that planned Medicaid mental health service cuts, including the removal of specialized mobile teams starting Monday, could pose a public safety risk to the community. They urged state leaders to act swiftly to fill the critical care gap.  Coeur d'Alene Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lookout Pass Ski Area on the Montana-Idaho border and Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg will open Friday, Dec. 5 with two chairlifts each running + Schweitzer in Sandpoint opened part of its slope today while Mt. Spokane targets Dec. 13 for a planned opening.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Alan Liere's report today highlighted fishing and hunting conditions across local waters and fields. The report advises anglers at spots like the Spokane River and Rock Lake to use specific gear (6x tippet and long leaders) to catch trout and kokanee, while nonresident hunters should note license changes for 2026.  The Spokesman-Review
