  • Addison, a local mother earning her master's at Boise State University while working full time, received help from Press Christmas for All to cover her summer tuition. The nonprofit supports neighbors in need in Coeur d'Alene.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. at downtown ArtWalk, visitors can hunt for elves hidden at six spots — Emerge at 119 N. Second St., Mix It Up Home, Mountain Madness Soap, Bird and Lily Boutique, Magpie Boutique and Jungle Relics — to claim a prize from Chief Elf Sherman.  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mike Baker’s AI exhibit No Permission Needed runs at Art Spirit Gallery in downtown from its launch on Nov. 14 through Dec. 24. The show, focusing on women’s health, will feature Baker on Saturday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (meeting with community members).  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Visit Idaho’s The 3100 documentary project earned seven film festival acceptances, including a screening at the Sun Valley Film Festival (Dec. 6 at the Argyros Theater in Ketchum). EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kellogg NAPA donated new tools to shop classes at Kellogg, Mullan and Wallace high schools, helping teachers update equipment with items like cordless drills, impact drivers and specialty automotive tools. The store manager said the donation—worth more than $20,000—will support classes as budgets remain tight.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • North Idaho College apprentices will build a storage shed this winter at the Workforce Training Center using $1,896 in materials donated by Badger Building Center in Post Falls — the project gives them needed hands-on carpentry training.  Coeur d'Alene Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Thursday, Shoshone County commissioners declared a flood emergency after heavy rain and melting snow caused the Coeur d’Alene and St. Joe rivers to overflow, damaging key roads for Eagle and Murray—crews rescued three residents and worked to secure routes.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • The S-R published an eight‐page winter sports section today with coverage of prep basketball, wrestling and gymnastics despite windy and rainy weather.
