COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Seventy-five local volunteers from ATV & Snowmobile clubs cleared nearly 500 fallen trees along Forest Service roads at Bunco Road, Fernan and the Fourth of July Pass Saturday after high winds caused damage. The work will help groomers access trails earlier in the season.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • AARP Foundation Tax-Aide seeks volunteers in Kootenai and Shoshone counties to help Idaho residents file 2025 tax returns. Training begins in January and tax preparation starts Feb. 2 at local sites (such as Dalton Gardens Church of Christ and Lake City Center).  Coeur d'Alene Press

CULTURE NEWS

  • The U.S. Air Force clarinet quartet will perform a free classical concert at 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center at 405 N. William St in Post Falls.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Coeur d'Alene’s Community Christmas Tree tradition began in 1917 at Fourth and Sherman and has evolved as caroling and festive displays moved to new local spots + community organizations helped preserve its history.   • TBS Top Ten Comic Kellen Erskine will perform at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 at Merlin's Comedy Club stage at the Kroc Center at 1765 W. Golf Course Road. Tickets cost $25 or $28 online, and accessible tickets are available by calling the box office.  Coeur d'Alene Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Winter classes for children, youth, and adults begin Jan. 5 at the Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene and run through March 27—offering courses from Mini Music Makers to Composition with fees starting at $180.  Coeur d'Alene Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Post Falls City Council approved a plan on Dec. 16 to develop a 3.6 acre park at the Crowne Reserve subdivision, which will feature two basketball courts, a playground, multi-use fields, and more. Construction will begin this winter or early spring and the park is expected to be complete around November.  Coeur d'Alene Press
