  • A rainy start gave way to sunshine on Wednesday at Fifth Street Farmers Market as organizers from the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association welcomed neighbors near Underground Bagels—about 60 vendors offered crafts, foods, and art during the event which runs every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. through September.  Coeur d'Alene Press
  • Kootenai County voters will decide the new Community Library Network trustee seat on May 20, choosing between former communications director Victoria Bauman and ex-Post Falls School Board trustee Michelle Lippert. Lippert plans to restore parental rights and library hours while Bauman supports current measures to protect children from harmful materials — the outcome will impact library policies moving forward.  Coeur d'Alene Press

  • Through April, state revenues fell $97.7 million short of forecasts that expected a $420.3 million ending balance, leaving the projection at $322.7 million and showing a $95.6 million drop in sales tax collections—state officials say the gap is within 1% while some lawmakers fear budget cuts may affect programs next year.  The Spokesman-Review

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Idaho Department of Insurance said insurers are updating plan documents to meet a new law that will require health plans to cover one supplemental breast cancer screening per year for those at high risk with no patient cost-sharing+ if the screening is done in network. The law, approved by the Legislature, takes effect on January 1, 2026 and aims to help high-risk patients access preventive care.  The Spokesman-Review
