Shaun Endsley of Hayden became the first local man to cross the finish line at Saturday’s Ironman 70.3 in Coeur d’Alene, finishing in 4 hours, 51 minutes and 55 seconds as about 1,100 athletes completed a 70.3-mile race—combining a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike ride and a 13.1-mile run. Suzanne Endsley finished as the top local female at 5 hours, 35 minutes and 55 seconds and the couple plans to join three more races later this year.
